If God were to call us uniquely to one place and one mission I would cry and never forget God’s faithfulness and wonders. What I hope for and request is that we, the community that came from leading Canterbury, would single-mindedly seek the vast heart of God and find there his most specific desire for our lives as we move forward. I also hope that that would become the pattern and rhythm of how we minister and live together.

What are we setting out to accomplish? –Mission—

This answer must be hard. It swells our eyes with tears and joy. It must be HUGE. It must involve transformation. It could be city, people/age group, social or justice issue. It must be hard to think about. It will require a major investment, risk, preparation, supernatural intervention, and faithfulness of many. We will be at a loss for how to approach it. This answer will evoke humility. If your answer to this question can easily be accomplished—or if you know how—it isn’t a good answer.

This answer will be simple and easy to come up with. But we will have to hold dear to this answer tightly in many difficult times. We will keep each other accountable to this answer.

Who will we be? –Character and Culture of Community—

It is like we are able to create DNA for the very first time, but as we put it in the Petri dish we will be the first cells, the first molecules as others blob off of us. The way we answer this question will dramatically reflect and impact the answers to the first two questions. The community and character and culture we create in the beginning will deeply affect what we create will become.

The sub-questions are:
Will we be a courageous, wise, faithful, and generous people? What type of community will we be? Will we be people of perseverance, and grace? Will we be people who bring hope, show grace, and whose beliefs become substantial and visible faith? What will be important to us?

How are we preparing? –Planning—

This is the first planning question. What intentional steps are we approaching to be the people and community and culture we want? What are those things that will prepare us?

Beyond the internal and spiritual realm:
Do we need to further our education?
What Research must be done?
Are there books and people we must talk to?
Who do we need to recruit to help us?
How much do we need to save?
